Best Traditional Holiday Drinks Around The WorldThis is a famous Christmas drink from the United States and Canada. This traditional holiday drink can be bought from a store or made from scratch. Many families prefer to make it a little "spiked". In medieval Britain, only the wealthy consumed eggs and milk, so it was used to toast to prosperity and good health. It became a holiday tradition during the 1700's when the American colonies were formed. If you want to create your own eggnog this season, here is a perfect recipe.

  1. Beat together 6 egg yolks and sugar. You can do this with a mixer or simply using a whisk. The sugar should also be added in slowly. The eggs will look lighter and fluffier
  2. Heat 2 cups of milk with a pinch of cinnamon and 2 cloves. The pan should be over medium heat. It should be steamy but not boiling.
  3. Add half of the milk mixture to the eggs while constantly whisking. Then pour it back into the sauce pan.
  4. Cook the mixture over medium heat until it thickens. If you have a small thermometer, you should place in the mixture and cook until it reaches 160 degrees. You must be careful that the mixture does not boil or curdle.
  5. Lastly, strain the mix and then chill until you are ready to serve.
