It is a time when the whole country comes together to celebrate all that makes the United States great - creating a way for friends and family to come together under one singular idea. Plus, it is a day full of fireworks, time off, excellent cookouts, and more. For many as well, July 4th is also a great excuse to make a quick getaway for an amazing vacation. Usually prices in beach towns tend to spike around this summer holiday, but we did the research! We found the best places to take a fun Forth of July weekend getaway that won't cost you an arm and a leg to get - check them out!

Hilo, Hawaii

Have you ever dreamed of taking the perfect vacation to Hawaii! Well now is your chance to check it off your vacation bucket list, as Hilo, Hawaii makes for the perfect vacation destination for a Forth of July weekend getaway. Being the largest city on Hawaii's Big Island, Hilo borders the Pacific Ocean on the island's rain-forested eastern side. The city of Hilo makes for the excellent destination from which to explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and other natural wonders nearby. The city isn't as cosmopolitan as the tourist destinations on Oahu or Maui, which is great if you are looking to maintain a laid-back, local flavor that's increasingly rare in Hawaii nowadays. Pack your flip-flops and comfy shoes, but leave your dress shirt at home: Hilo's style is casual and comfortable, but never dull!

Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

Families seeking thrills at a water-park adventure, daring camping opportunities, and a traditional midwest getaway for their Fourth of July need to check out the extraordinary Wisconsin Dells! Wisconsin Dells, located in southern Wisconsin, is situated on the Wisconsin River in a region of the state known for its glacier formed sandstone landscape. Besides its breathtaking views, the city is home to many water parks, theme parks, and entertainment centers that are fun for the whole family so you never get bored! For guests who want to spend more time in nature, Mirror Lake State Park is the perfect getaway into the great outdoors of camping, hiking, and biking trails.

Block Island, Rhode Island

Block Island is no stranger to summertime celebrations! If you are looking for a perfect destination that is full of beach campfire cookouts, to festivals and parades, this is the place for you! Locals and visitors alike to the island know how to have fun under the sun. If you get to go for Independence Day, celebrations kick off with a large parade that always starts at Veterans Park. Guests spectating the event are advised to show up early to secure a spot along the parade route to watch all of the floats pass by. After the parade, as is tradition on Block Island, there is an Annual Steak Fry to benefit the local fire department. Oftentimes there are fireworks being shot off through the afternoon and into the evening, as well as bonfires, beach cookouts, and plenty of music to go around.

Yosemite National Park, California

Time and time again, Yosemite National Park has proven to be quite the popular destination for Fourth of July travelers! With its unbelievable access to some of California’s most iconic natural features, it makes for a more relaxed experience from other destinations. No matter what the reasons, however, the fact remains that Independence Day in Yosemite is a busy time of year. Guests who wish to visit the park during this time should be aware that campsites will book up fast, so it is advised to arrive early to secure them. Wildlife in the area are more active during this time of year, so fireworks are banned and driving slowly is encouraged since there may be animals on the roads. Even with all the restrictions this holiday brings, the gorgeous weather, access to nature, and potential to spot wildlife make the trip more than worth it! If you want to do something a little different for your Forth, this is the place to be!

Sonoma, California

Head to Northern California for an escape in the charming Sonoma Valley to celebrate the Forth of July this year! Paired with a glass of the country’s finest wine, it makes quite the destination spot. Quieter than neighboring Napa, Sonoma is the perfect choice for a more romantic yet laid-back weekend away. From taco trucks and Michelin-starred restaurants, to even a few charming and picturesque bed-and-breakfasts, Sonoma is a paradise that exudes off-the-beaten path five star luxury.

Bridgehampton, New York

Everyone knows the Hamptons are a premier weekend destination for New York City’s best, but the Fork’s utter charms shine through in Bridgehampton! This is the destination where the beaches are the only spot to head, as elegance is endless here. With antique shops, art galleries, and restaurants that serve up local, organic produce, there are many places to head for an amazing getaway. For a leisurely lunch, check out Pierre’s, with a vintage Citroen parked out front that delivers mouthwatering baguettes and bread to its devoted foodies. Bridgehampton is a locale where you can get a taste of authentic Hamptons with its rich agricultural history, giving rise to some of the best farmers’ markets!
